Boone County Government to Remain Open with Minimal Staffing

March 19, 2020—Starting Friday, March 20, 2020, all Boone County offices will be open with only minimal, essential staff reporting for duty. Non-essential employees will not report to the workplace and are encouraged to maintain social distancing. When possible, essential employees are being encouraged to work remotely. Employees not working due to the decision of the County will be held harmless for time not worked.

During this time of minimal staffing, and as a reiteration of the importance of social distancing, citizens are encouraged to explore alternative methods of conducting business with Boone County. Please visit www.ShowMeBoone.com for phone numbers and email addresses, as well as online services. Visitors to the Boone County Government Center will be allowed access to the first floor only; most Government Center offices will have representatives available on the first floor to provide services.

Focusing on both the health and well-being of their employees and on continuing to provide service to the citizens of Boone County, Elected Officials and Department Directors of Boone County Government met via conference call to determine the best plan to meet both of these needs during these unprecedented circumstances. In consideration of the most current information and recommendations offered by public health experts, the Boone County Commission enacted these temporary changes through approval of Commission Order on Thursday, March 19, 2020.

The County Commission, along with the rest of Boone County Government leadership, is continuing to monitor the situation. As information and recommendations from our public health experts evolve, we will continue to evaluate the situation and make decisions in the best interest of Boone County employees and citizens. During these trying, unprecedented times, the Boone County Commission encourages all Boone County citizens to support each other and stay strong.
